Neuroscientist with an active interest in science communication, publishing and education. Formerly a postdoctoral researcher turned Assistant Professional Researcher at the University of California San Francisco focusing on understanding the blood-brain barrier in Drosophila. Following my passions in effective science communication and scholarly publishing, I joined the team at bioRxiv, the preprint server for biology and the life sciences as Content Lead. I served a dynamic role as "Managing Editor" for 3 years, overseeing the growing bioRxiv team - responsible for screening of submitted manuscripts and engagement in preprint education and advocacy - followed by a expansion of these responsibilities to both preprint servers after the launch of medRxiv. As Scientific Content Manager I oversee both the bioRxiv and medRxiv Content Team to ensure smooth operations and screening workflows. In addition, I am co-Founder of PREreview, a scientist-driven initiative to increase diversity in the peer review process by supporting and training early career researchers in peer review. Developed together with Daniela Saderi and Monica Granados, we provide resources to help guide scientists in how to conduct peer review and provide a platform to disseminate that feedback to the preprint authors and the rest of the scientific community. The platform and training is built by ECRs for ECRs, and is completely free! We also facilitate regular live-streamed preprint journal clubs to connect globally dispersed experts to discuss and review recently posted preprints.
